I'll take a stab at this. First all the cooking methods are good sound advice and I'm sure you can read the directions on the package, so let's look in a different direction. When did you buy these tater wonders, how long have they been in the back of your freezer and was this the first time you opened the package. By now you know where I'm going with this, Age. Even in the freezer whether at home or in the store these little rock hard nuggets deteriorate, the glutens fall apart with age, hence no more sticking together. If you just bought them tell the store manager he needs to rotate his stock and he owes you some tots. If a blow torch is what your useing to cook with then I think we all understand. Got Ketchup?

I cook mine in the bottom part of a broiler pan in the oven according to the directions, I also spray a little bit of Pam or whatever cooking spray I happen to have on the pan before this helps the tots not stick...

Just cook them in some really hot cooking oil. When you put them in the oil don't touch them, just let them fry. When they start to brown then you can move them around. I know I cook them all the time for my kids and they love them.

Baking them in the oven instead of deep-frying them works really well. It's alot less trouble, and you also aren't adding the extra oil so its healther. There's not really that much difference in taste, either.

If you are frying them, make sure the oil is hot enough. A deep fryer is best.
