Where did you keep the Turkey and what did you feed it? Did you have any tricks for making it big?

Three of them. The kids usually stay in their rooms at night and go to school during the day. Then when thanksgiving comes they tend to lounge about in the living room during the actual day and avoid coming into the kitchen otherwise I give them work to do.
All of them can be turkeys at times.

Yes, we have raised turkeys. I know how to butcher and clean it and dress it to get ready to got in the oven. There really are no tricks to it. Just go to Tractor Supply/Ace Hardware and get some chicken or turkey feed and give it some time. Though it is too late to start raising one now for Thanksgiving, for next year start in early spring and he will be about 20 pounds for Thankdgiving.

Yes, I have raised several. They were free-range birds so they ate anything they wanted, including jumping up on our picnic table on the front porch right at daylight to eat the cats' food! Of course, we also fed them and the chickens "chicken scratch" pellets from the feed store. There is probably a specialty feed for turkeys, but we never bought it. Turkeys are ravenous and will be looking to eat all the time. The more feed they are allowed to get, the faster they will grow.

We did when we were children. Problem is, we ALWAYS befriended the bird and couldn't let Pa kill it....so we always had chicken for Thanksgiving and Christmas and just kept the turkeys as pets. My Pas was a soft, good man, bless his soul.

No. I lived on a farm too, but I had a pet coon and he usually got the turkeys before we did. He always had a way of getting out of his cage.

some friends of are family do it every year. they just kept it w/ their chikens and fed them normally. no tricks just time.good luck!
