She is upset and I wanted a poem to put in a card to cheer her up. Preferably rhyming. Nothing too depressing though please! Thanks in advance

to my little cat, you'll be sorely missed, in all the places you once pissed. I'd come home to find you'd warmed my chair, you were my best friend and you really cared, you'd lay on my bed and softly purr as I stroked your fluffy fur, you were my pet the only one, I won't forget you now you're gone.

I'M STILL HERE

Friend, please don’t mourn for me
I’m still here, though you don’t see.
I’m right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I’m always near.
I’m everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I’ll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I’ll never wander out of your sight-
I’m the brightest star on a summer’s night.
I’ll never be beyond your reach-
I’m the warm moist sand when you’re at the beach.

I’m the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I’m the beautiful flowers of which you’re so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I’m the first bright blossom you’ll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I’m the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you’ll see that the face in the moon shine is mine.

When you start thinking there’s no one to love you,
you can talk to through the Lord up above you.
I’ll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you’ll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I’m the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I’m the smile you see on your smiling face.
Just look for me friend, I’m every place!

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side o heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge
When an animal that has been especially to someone that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them: who had to be left behind
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face, your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
THEN YOU CROSS THE RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER....

Always in my memory.

I loved my Rupert so, just like the bear you know.
I'm sad to say goodbye to a friend now in the sky.
But one day we'll meet again and then we both will know
Our love will never die, my cat, my Rupert and I.

No points, it's for Rupert

What a lovely friend you are! Here is a link that might be helpful, there are loads of poems to choose from. (Not all cat ones but a good few of them are.)

I have had cats in my life since childhood and I'm 53 now. It is always so sad when they die, it never gets any easier. But kind words and deeds from friends help immensely. I do hope you can find something suitable for your friend.

I am sure you will get a link to the Rainbow Bridge poem here. It is very lovely.

I am glad your friend has someone who can empathize with her grief. Many people in our world will tell her "it was just a cat, get over it". To love, be loved and care for a sentient pet for many years and then lose it is an emotionally wrenching experience.

Just listen to her talk about her cat and I hope she can cry about it as she needs to release her grief and not bury it in her heart.

Your favorite chair is vacant now...
No eager purrs to greet me
No softly padded paws to run
ecstatically to meet me
No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
Will say it time for feeding
I've put away your bowl,
And all the things you won't be needing
But I will miss you little friend,
For I could never measure
the happiness you brought me,
the comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
in Heaven's bright tomorrow...

They come in black and white,
yellow, grey, and tiger stripes,
they love taking naps in laps
and little hands with gentle pats.

They grow-up with balls of string,
butterflies and birds of spring,
they wonder out into the night
lying by your door at first light.

This hunter sits on the windowsill
with instinctive dreams to be fulfilled,
now bathing in the warming sun,
purrs a loving song to someone.

Now onto your bed with natural grace
that flipping tail will find your face,
bite your toes and lie on your feet
and watch over children while they sleep.

A little scratch behind the ear
they’ll nuzzle away the saddest tear,
and so gently with soft calico…
touch upon your most inner soul.

…those crazy cats.
