I think they will do the opposite - do something REALLY SHOWY at the border to say 'look at us! See what we can do!" Then give amnesty with reconciliation rights to bring in more family to all here and vote in a guest worker program.
That is why I am voting against Feinstein and other Democrats in this election. I have been reading the polls too, but I am holding onto hope with the fact that polls only get the people who want to talk (not necessarily vote) and that since this has been framed by the media as a racist/xenophobic issue, there may be more who vote conservatively than care to say so.
A recent CIS poll had Republicans ahead in key races, due to the immigration issue. I don't think anyone projects Feinstein to lose, but that is the only Senator I can vote against to make my point, so I will.

They are far too liberal for me to do anything really right to solve the problem with illegal immigration.
They are also offering things to the Hispanic population that they can not and will not deliver. They cant give amnesty, they don't have that power, they cant do a lot of things they tell you they can.If they receive some new senators and house members and I'm sure they will it will not be a majority .It will perhaps make both houses a little more fair.
Don't get your hopes up my extremist liberal friends, its not over until the last LEGAL vote is counted, and the fat dude sings.
I was a liberal Democrat for years until I saw that they are not for this nation as a whole and are only for a small minority. They like the republicans are only pandering to all special interests groups and trust me,historical they will not help anyone but them selves. Both sides are only interested in votes that will only enrich their pockets and not this nation or its legal citizens.
I will cross all party lines with my vote.I will vote for the person with the best plan to end illegal immigration,no matter what party he/she represents.
If they in fact do change the balance in the two houses, nothing will change but the names on the checks they get from the lobbyists.

I have no idea what will happen. A higher wall does not seem to be the solution, but it might help a little bit... that would be very costly.
Here is my silly opinion. I am not sure why the politicians did not consider that.
You see, many illegal immigrants pay someone to GET THEM IN. Fake IDS and other stuff. They avoid paying taxes and get free services whenever they can... Let's say THAT is the problem.
- Offer immigration at a PRICE. This would be a high fee, but one that is eqivalent to the ILLEGAL services. Let's compete with the illegal services. You see, OUR immegrants would be paying customers; who would be legal taxpayers. Naturally, we would DO all of the appropriate background checks, health checks as we do with any immigrant.
- Offer higher rewards to people that TURN IN others, including amnesty. Let's get immigrants the to turn in other immigrants through a reward program. It works!
- Offer higher rewards to people that TURN IN people that offer illegal immigration services and employment, including amnesty. Let's get immigrants the to turn in other these thieves through a reward program. It works!
Most importantly is that Mexico should be developing their economy. They are not doing enough for their citizens. Mexico should become a land of opportunity. The rich are plenty rich; but they can become MUCH richer with a working economy in that country. You don't see too many Canadians sneaking into the USA. Education in Mexico should be a very high priority. Lets get Mexico working, so they can be proud.
I've been to Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Just beyond the tourist traps, you can see deep poverty. You can see kids that are NOT in school. I've seen schools in ruin still, 3 years after a hurricane; and heard that school sessions were held outdoors. This has to be FIXED! That government MUST accept their responsibilities.

No I think the democrats are so eager and seriously wanting to straighten the is country out in some noticeable way, that they ll make a few HUGE moves relatively quickly, they reason for this would be to show something big quickly, rather than many things small inorder to propel themselves forward into the 08 presidential elections. After which then i believe there will be a cooling off of huge quick improvements and mor eemphasis on smaller long term ones.

I wouldn't think the illegal immigrant issue is as important as the illegal war issue where many Americans are dying each day. I also think civil libertie issues and human rights issues are high priority...not to mention the budget deficit that democrats had at one time under control until the mad man took over. Social security and heath care are also important issues. education the economy,,there are many issues that Democrats are more than able to deal with. Immigration is just one issue.

The dems seem to drop the ball on all the issues. I kinda want them to win the legislature, that way the American people will be positive that they dont want Hillary for president.

I am so sick of the Dem vs Reb debate.
Here is my reality. Our country is messed up. We all agree. We continue to vote the same morons that messed it up back into office. We are all insane.
The definition of insanity is continuing to do the same thing over and over and expecting the results to change.
Vote Anti-Incumbent!!!!!
If they are in office they are the problem, get rid of them!!!!

Judging by their past, they will drop the ball on EVERYTHING.
Luckily, forecasts have often been inaccurate. Let's hope this one is wrong as well.
