I'm scared I will get tesed and kids will think I'm weird, an I won't make friends. I'm really shy and very sensitive too, I will cry for almost anything! I'm just sooo scared of the culture shock I will have once I get there!! PLease help me !!!! if u have any info please !!! ( I'm 14 by the way) thanks..!!

It's going to be okay. Talk to your parents.

Try reading books about Cape Verde, and try to learn some basic words. No matter WHAT happens, one day you WILL settle in.

When you start feeling sad, smile. Even if your not happy, SMILE. I makes you feel a tad better.

Just be friendly, and smiley. You will make friends eventually.

And don't worry if you get homesick, it happens to all of us.

Good luck, your gonna be fine!

I know how you feel. I just moved to Germany not that long ago and the transition was pretty rough. I came here with my husband around the time where I was really depressed. I didn't really give Germany a chance. I forgot about what a big and rare opportunity it was for me. I am the first person in my family to leave the country. I got to meet new people and learn a new language. That is invaluable. All I can tell you is to keep an open mind. Sure, you will probably meet some unfriendly people and it may be a little hard for you. In the end you will learn from this experience and grow. In case it really sucks you could always apply to an American university and come back :)! I'm sure you will do fine.

There is no reason they there or anyone here should tease you, perhaps you left something out, if not you are somewhat shy and think you are less than your piers. Hold you head up, you are special, a one of a kind and if you respect and treat others as you would like to be treated then you have no inner worries. People are people and you have to take them as individuals and move on. Life is about choices and changes and some we can not control, just be cool.

ya know what??? thats life sweetie. you may get fun of, people may think you are weird, you might not have a lot of friends, you may even have to shed a few tears in the process, but that is life. you can rise above all of that. don't let it break you down.
just keep your head up and go for it. be the best person you can be and you will find your nitch, your spot where you belong, so just go for it, that is all you can do.
i recommend that you work on your language skills and study the culture in the meantime so you will at least know what changes you will have to overcome, and prepare yourself mentally and emotionally for the kind of person you want to be.

I really don't know how to help you on this one but everybody gets nervous in a new environment. Calm yourself, it is not as terrible as you might think. Just be yourself, even though you can't speak the language you still can be friend with other people. So, don't be so negative at the beginning

what you should do is do some research on the place you are going and learn about things they do there. Then try to overcome your shyness by like breaking the ice with something they do there and trust me you will be friends with someone before you know it!
