All of my daughters group have already had parties, and they got bigger and more out of control. I dont want that, but want to have a simple, fun time for the kids. She loves pink, so i am thinking of a pink theme somehow, not sure what. Last party she went to (last week) I helped chaperone. There was a 400 dollar DJ at a rented hall with gourmet caterer, kids drinks (actual martini type drinks minus the alcohol) fireworks at midnight. CRAZY!
Is this the trend all over the country? I think it must come from that show, my super sweet 16.

400 dollars is an obscene amount of money to spend on a bd!!!

yikes!!!!!!

why not have a pampering spa day for her and her Friends. Look up recipes to make facial masks, provide the girls with nail polishes so they can give themselves pedicures etc...or is that too dweebish for that age?..omg, i am in sooo much trouble when my kids turn to teenagers!

$400.00 DJ? That's just...absurd.

My 16th Birthday Party was absolute chaos and lots of fun, for a very inexpensive price. We played all the different games that we played as kids (Light As A Feather, Stiff As A Board; Ice T-Shirts; etc.), and just had a good time.

Are you trying to surprise her somehow? If you're not, just kind of lightly bring up the subject of the party; what does she have in mind? Does she want to go with the pink theme?

Ask her questions and you'll probably get a good idea of what she wants. If she says, "I want a huge party with this, this, and this," explain to her that you don't want to have a huge party, maybe by saying, "Well, don't you want to do something different than what all you friends have? To make your party memorable?"

This is the trend all over the country. Just this week I want to a friend's Sweet Sixteen, and she came in on a horse drawn carriage. WOAH. Now that's obscene

Oh god. lol Well Don't make it like too kiddy, they will more than likely hate it.

Find out what music they like, What the're favorite colors are, what activites they like to do for fun and Go on from there.

You know?
