Hardwood is always preferable to laminate if you can afford it. Scratches can be easily sanded out and/or restained. That can't be done with laminate. I'm a stickler for the real stuff, so if you can afford to have it laid and then stained, as opposed to the pre-finished variety, it'll last a lifetime AND stand up to you pooch. Not only that, it adds to your equity. I'm an interior designer and have worked with many homes built in the '20s and before. In almost every case, the hardwood floors are original and often only require minimal repair.

It cost me 680 euro to get a 16ftx12ft floor laminated, including skirting boards and metal bars at the doors. It was done by Des Kelly Flooring. The laminate was 12.99 per sqr. mtre.

It of course depends on the laminate you buy. There are different types from different companies. I suggest you go to a show room and see.

Laminate flooring is now out of fashion according to designers. Carpets are in, are cosier, come in all shades, textures and patterns. Of course, if you want to follow the sheep?

It really depends on the quality of the flooring, anything from cheap at £10 per M2 up to £50 per M2
and it is considered impolite to use caps. Its called shouting.
Take your Caps Lock off please.

if you did in real wood (pine) floorboards it'd cost you around 50 quid.
i did my (concrete house) downstairs 10 years ago... much better than any laminate crap unless your paying £30 2m... just sand it smooth and use yacht varnish... (it locks with tongue and groove, and can be laid with just UPVA glue... oh, and it creaks like a real floor should...
