I dont know about all states but Ohio has the right to carry a firearm now if you take the course. I know Texas does but, im not up on all the states. I know my brothers have taken this and have a right to carry one now here in Ohio where i live at. You need to check state to state laws.

Many state permits, even the larger states, (mine is NY) do not have reciprocity with other states. NY is one of the better ones, and it's only good in 30 states right now.

If you are driving through many states have a peaceable journey exemption for people traveling through the state on their way to somewhere else. Even then, each state is different and their interpretation of "peaceable journey" is different. In some you drive straight through only stopping for gas, others you can spend the night (less than 24 hours in state.) Illinois has NO exceptions at all, if you cross the border you're breaking the law.

It's up to you as the gun owner to educate yourself about the laws of the states you travel through. I will tell you from experience that if you get stopped by a traffic cop, TELL HIM right off the bat there's a handgun in the glove box, if he finds it the hard way you're going to court right or wrong! Costs a ton of money and aggravation.

There is no such permit yet...as the congress has consistently rejected bills that would require national reciprocity. At this time the only way for national carry is if you are an active law enforcement officer or a retired law enforcement officer who is actively certified in firearms training/qualified by a certified law enforcement training facility... this has been in effect since the passing of the law enforcement officers protection act.

Under federal law H.R 218, only sworn law enforcement personnel are authorized to carry concealed firearms from state to state without having to apply for a carrying permit.

However, certain establishments (universities, stadiums, casino's, etc) may supercede this law and ban all firearms from the premises.

Just because you may be allowed to carry in one state, does not give you the right to carry in another.

Some states, NJ being one of the toughest, make it very difficult for someone other than law enforcement to get a concealed carrying permit.

Since you are asking this question we know that: You are not a member of Dept. Of Defense military adjunct, nor are you a federal Marshal or another branch of United States investigation, or military duty person. There is no permit that allows a U.S citizen to carry a concealed weapon in all 50 states. If you were a courier subject to contract with the U.S gov't you could. but as things currently stand, NO.

I would phone the State Police (Highway Patrol) in each state I was going into to find out for sure.

This could save you a looooooot of trouble, and expense..

Bet they won't think as much of your Beretta PX4 as you do!!!

BE SMART.......

Short answer...NO
Sorry.

For civillians this is still a State to State issue. Many states have 'reciprocity', which means they recognize CHL's from other states. It is YOUR responsibility to know which states recognize your license and which one's don't. And you are still responsible for knowing and complying with the local laws of the host state regarding CHL.

Carrying a gun isn't the end-all-be-all of self defense. 90% of personal protection is threat awareness and avoidance. Considering that ulawful gun carrying is a BIG no-no in many places and carries HUGE penalties, it doesn't seem worth the risk to me. Do as you will.

go to the NRA website, they have a link that tells the states that have agreements, this is a state by state law, the republicans are trying to put a law that states must Honor other state concealed weapons permits, much like drivers license. But of course it is being fought by the Dems.

No there is not. In fact most states do not even allow other state's law enforcement officers to carry a weapon with in their state.

NO. You have to be a federal marshall, FBI, or similar agent of the national government. Otherwise you must follow individual state regulations regarding firearms permitting.

You admit to breaking the law regarding firearms. This is another example why gun advocates should not be allowed firearms.
