I think if the Dingo ate your baby before June 30th you are out of luck. If it happened after that, you can claim the deduction. You had to be supporting the dependant for six months out of the year.

(what a question, LOL) by the way, great to see you and some good questions!!!

If you are a citizen of the USA, then certainly. The IRS only cares about one day more than half a year.

If you get a good financial adviser, you might also be able to figure out how to get a deduction for any expenses to recover tracking and chasing the Dingo down in an attempt to recover any remains.

Realize that this is only true if you did not purposely feed the baby to the Dingo. If that is the case, then all bets are off and the national wildlife federation will probably seek prosecution for cruelty and endangering wildlife. Babies are not part of the acceptable feeding schedule for Dingos in the wild.

Dingos are illegal in the USA , so there might be a legal issue of whether that Dingo was here with papers and if that Dingo paid taxes or if you claimed the Dingo as a dependent, which would be illegal since the Dingo is here illegal, and that would mean , you are in a truckload of shiit harboring illegal Dingos, feeding them Babies, perhaps giving them shelter and maybe even a job.....
Mojo...that's a very iffy situation you got yourself in here.....
Welcome Back.

Hmmm, you may only be able to deduct the portion of the child's existence during the tax year, before it was dingoed.

No it's prorated. So if the dingo ate the baby one month after the fiscal year began, you get 1/12th of what you would normally get. But never fear, just have more babies or better yet, be a half-assed foster parent!
