The bible says, your body is the temple of the holy ghost if any man defile the temple of the holy ghost, him shall God destroy. This is only referring to the abuse of your body and impurities.
The bible also refers to the body being the temple that you may have church at any time and any place. Church is within, not necessarily a building, or a structure where people gather all the time.
You can have church with Jesus by having a personal relationship with him; meaning also in the privacy of your own home.
Going to church is essential due to fellowship, however if you are whole-heartily committed to Jesus by personal relationship with him, the door to Heaven will NEVER be shut on you because God is GOOD, ALL KNOWING and FORGIVING. May you continue on your search for truth, always asking and searching for answers. Peace

You go to heaven by confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. You go to church get yourself prepared and trained to enjoy the other blessings of God for you here on earth and to be transformed to be more like Jesus and serve Him on earth to earn rewards. Our salvation is more than just earning a ticket to heaven we are promised to live life more abundantly on earth (John 10:10) Do the right thing and do not get short-changed, brother.

The Bible says the Church is The People, not the building. Church can be where ever you go to praise Jesus. If you want to praise the Lord in your bedroom closet, well that closet is your Church.
Its good to be around other like minded people when praising the Lord. You have a better opportunity of feeling the spirt when you are with others all priasing Him together.
I like small groups and Modern type church services where you can really feel the power!
Hope this helps!

Well, do we know that you even go to heaven or hell when you die? No proof other than one man who claimed so in the bible. And even if you do go to heaven, it isn't on saying, "ooh, I believe in Jesus so I'm going to heaven." People who think that are idiots. You have to have faith and live up to what he has told you (the 10 commandments I mean). People swear every day and claim to be Christian. Not true.
If you dont have faith in your lord then choose another religion.
P.S. I sounded too Christian here, I'm actually a Materialist, and the answers so far have been so bad that I decided to help you.

Heaven, as described by Christ, is not a physical place.
All what Jesus talked about, is on earth. Heaven and hell are all of us, and the way we act towards each other.
Christianity is not Church and its dogma.
Believing in Jesus, is to believe in the good and the bad, and the way to deal with it.
Jesus never described physical places like heaven and hell, and when he referred to them, it was to make his ideas understandable in the popular imagery of those days.
You cannot blindly believe in Jesus. Believing in him demands a lot of reading and reflexion so you do not have something horrible called :"blind faith".
One last thing: If you believe in Jesus, you will be believing in a philosoph and a social leader, not in what has been built around his name and in his name (dogma, churches, sects...)
Know him better, and you will be opened to all other philosophical thoughts in the whole world. Dont be the prisoner of a dogma. He is one of those humans who fought for the freedom of the mind.

Going to heaven is beyond going to church and believing in Jesus.
It's knowing and being known by Him.

Many people who go to church will not go to heaven. Many who do not go to church will go to heaven. Church is not a prerequisite for salvation. However, fellowship with other Christians is a blessing. I would suggest finding a good church.

going to church will not get you to heaven. To get to heaven you must be born again--repent of your sin, and believe that Jesus is the Christ and that He died for your sins and ask Him to come in to your heart and save your soul. Only rejecting Jesus will keep you out of heaven.

1. God commands us not to forsake our gathering together
2. The church is the Body of Christ and we are taught in 1 John that if we don't love those who are Gods children (the church) we don't love Him
3. Jesus says what ever we do to the least of His children (the church) we do to Him----Ignoring the body is Ignoring Christ
4 Wise saying - He who would have God as his Father must have the church as his mother.
Think carefully my friend as this is one of Satan's tricks to keep people in the dark.
