She can notify the churches in her area that her family needs some assistance. Churches do gift baskets for persons in just such an instance.
Ask social services what agencies can help with Christmas presents. We have one agency that will allow you to choose a gift for each child in the family.

Do you mean "help" in the form of hired help that will clean her house, cook and serve meals? Or do you mean she can't afford to give her family the holiday she wants?
For the first one, check the temporary agencies. For the second, she's got enough time to get a second job if she cannot provide a holiday within her means. She can make gifts, cut corners now, cut off people off her list that don't really need gifts (my ex and I didn't give each other presents for years when we could only afford christmas for the kids). She can have yard sales and use the money for christmas, she can make crafts or food products and sell them to earn money. There are also many organizations in many cities that will help families with children have a meal and some gifts. She can ask around or simply read the newspaper.

There are all kind of agencies that can help out. It depends on what kind of help she needs, and why. Local churches often have food banks, and holiday gifts for needy families. Also the Salvation Army can help with food baskets, and toys as well. Hope this helps.

the salvation army does this every year. she needs to go there before the list gets too full. also she can check with her local department of child services. (DSS, DHS, CWS,DCS) Also the radio stations would know where to turn to. They have to broadcast it over the radio so they would have phone numbers or address for her to call.
good luck

nothing wrong with needing help. savation army has programs to help with holiday dinners [baskets with turkey and fixings to go with it] they may have a program where you can sign your children up for gifts. schools can direct you to programs as well. happy holidays
