If I were choosing between NYC and DC, definitely go with DC.
I would rank them: 1. DC 2. Chicago 3. NYC
(don't even think about going to Philly lol)

There are 3 really good museums of that caliber.
Chicago: Field's Museum
New York: Museum of Natural History
Washington DC: Smithsonian
They are all good. My personal preference was the Smithsonian in Washington DC. World class all the way. Not to mention that there is so much to see in that town.

Washington. Then, it you have time there are a whole bunch of other museums within walking distance. You can also visit FBI headquarters and the Washington Mint.

mmmmm. where is the 2nd natural hist museum in nyc? i just know the one on central park west. i still like the field museum in chicago better.

new york it has a bigger foundation and has more well known peopel backing it up so more items on display
