It's simple math: take in more calories than you burn. It also depends on the kind of weight you want to gain. I have a seriously fast metabolism, but I gained 20 pounds in two months by eating at McDonald's in-between meals. You can also drink a milkshake before bed every night.
This is what you need to do if you want to gain muscle:
-You need 1-2 grams of protein for every pound you weigh each day (no more than 40 grams at a time).
-You need to consistently work out with heavy weights and low reps to stimulate muscle growth (if you can do it more than 6 times, it's too light).
-You need to let your body totally recover before working out a particular muscle again (less is more when gaining).
-Take L-Glutamine at night to help keep your body from burning muscle.
-Stay away from the cardio during this time (nothing that will raise your heartrate for extended periods of time).
-Be consistent! Good luck.

well, if you want to stay eating healthy, but gain wait i'd recommend lean meats and chicken, egg whites, tuna fish, oatmeal, brown rice, healthy fats found in nuts, salad oils, vegetables and whole grains. Just try to increase your daily calories by about 500 calories over what you are eating now. If eating extremely healthy isn't so much of an issue, take in a lot of carbs. Like pastas and breads. Hope this helps!

Gaining and losing weight quickly is not healthy, but you gain weight in a healthy manner I would reccomend lots of different types of nuts be introduced to your diet. Also eat eggs, pastas, and get your fruits and veggies to, but really limit your sugar intake and your should proficiently gain some weight, though your body may quite possibly be the most healthy at your current weight, if it is i strongly advise you not to fight it too much.

White bread (lots of butter on it), potatoes, pasta etc. Unfortunately, these are not good foods to eat in abundance. Exercise and a healthy appetite can also help you to put on weight to a certain extent.

eat a lot of the following food every day-it's healthy and will help you gain weight in a healthy manner-

nuts
milk
eggs (any which way, just avoid fried eggs-bad for the heart)
white and lean cut red meats
lotsa fish(i know it falls under white meat, but i want to stress on the goodness of fish)
soya produts
potatoes
rice and finally,
good amount of weight-training to help with those muscles.

Nuts, avocados and seeds are great. They contain loads of calories but are packed with vitamins, minerals and good fats. Dont eat junk food because it will dip your energy levels and make you lathargic.
