Is it hard to believe? Is it believed that there is a catch?

Thanks for the answers. Just to answer to one statement, I do wear my intelligence, but not in a mean way. I don't dumb myself down for someone, but I don't throw it their face and make them feel stupid either. I've seen people do that sometimes and think it is hurtful. I shy away from those people...kindness is #1 to me.

For some guys it is - though I'm not sure it's being "scared" as much as it is just wanting to be with someone like ourselves. Think of a homeless person falling for a millionaire...that's the extreme case, but the same feelings apply - "I don't fit into your world."
Personally, I prefer an intelligent, cute, funny, professional woman...but intelligent, cute, funny, and professional are all in my demographic....as are caucasian, American, divorced, and part-time single father.
It also depends on how you "wear" your intelligence. Is it something you throw in someone else's face at a every opportunity or you use to verbally beat someone else into submission? My guess, based on the fact that you care enough to ask the question, is no....but I have known women like that.

Scary? No way! I would find it refreshing.... but then I'm secure with myself.
I would love to have someone that was intelligent as long as she was also sweet, warm and had a sense of humor. These are the most important things to me.... It would be nice if she was cute...but it's not necessary...
BTW I have an MBA but my interests are far beyond that.

I'd rather intimidate a man than attract him — I get a strange little kick out of it. However, I don't throw my intelligence in everyone's face as much as I used to. I just wanna have fun these days.

It may be a little intimidating at first to meet her but what else can you ask for in a woman. You may ned to hide some of your success to find someone that is looking for your personality.

I was a child prodigy. I used to intimidate the boys because I was smarter and younger: a deadly combination. So yes, in my experience, intelligent girls scare many men. But, not all. Look for those special guys who are secure enough to love you in spite of your genius. :)

It depends on the guy, If he is only looking for a one night stand or a fling. Then us guys move towards the less educated easily impressed women. Relationship, then you would be perfect,

Yes, in general i would say. They are afraid that she might be arrogant and rude to them and put them down. The frustration comes from the inability to fight back like they would a man.

Men don't like when they felt a women attempt to overwhelm them.
So....
Smart women, no, they don't mind. Smart women are able to con... er, I mean make themself attractive and felt comfortable to the men they choosed.
Smartypants. women... that's another matter.
Though if she is cute, attractive, funny, rich, and have a good social status, maybe they are willing to put aside what they think are her shortcoming.
