I would like to know which region of Italy is best for sun in Summer and skiing in Winter. I would love to relocate to Italy, my ideal place would be somewhere like Tuscany but from the property that I have looked at, that is not in my price bracket. So basically I need to find an up and coming area that is similar to Tuscany, any ideas?!

Hi,
I'm from Italy so think can give you some advise.Well,Tuscany is one of the most wanted county in Italy and that's why prices are high. There you could find something by the seaside of course.Another interesting county is Umbria but it's not by the seaside. For plenty of sun and sea i coul reccommend the south but personally I don't like the people:They're too different from us in the north and very deep in their culture to which i don't get along a bit.To ski there are a lot of places.i used to work in Cortina d'Ampezzo which is among the best places to ski but I must tell you it's also where the prices for properties is the highest in Italy.Indeed only celebrities nowadays can afford it.Otherwise in the county of Trentino Alto Adige you can find a lot of places which are cheaper.Coming back to the seaside,I repeat the best sea is probably in the south but all the rest is crap.Near Venice and along the Adriatico coast there are several places. The sea is not so nice but it's even cleaner than the one in the south. It seems different because of the sand which is thinner and gives the sea water a different color, less trasparent, but according to the research it's better.
Good luck in your search and if you need any further advice don't hesitate to coma back to me.

Hi,

I have been traveling to Italy as a tourist for about 10 years and have come to love the Southern part(!).

In Apulia we have found everything we have been searching for:
Warm and stable weather, the top of seafood in whole Italy, hospitality and everything is much cheaper than in the mid and northern area.

Also Sicily and Calabria has been a big surprise for us as we always has been told much of the contrary from our friends in the nothern part...

Calabria is also a far cheaper area than Sicily.
This is also the area with the cleanest area when it comes to beaches / water (we almost been everywhere in Italy...)

As I only have travelled in Italy during the summertime I'm sorry not to be able to give any advice for the skiing periode.

May be you could get some tips on properties on this site:

Click the "Prestige" link to see what they can offer.

For other Italian related themes click the "Home" button at the top.

Hope you find your 'spot' in Italy!
