Im currently living and working in London on a Spouse UK Ancestry Visa. (i.e. I am accompanying my partner who holds a UK Ancestry Visa)

This weekend for the first time, I will be travelling to Europe (with work colleagues for a study trip) without my partner.

Does anyone know if this may cause problems coming back through immigration? (i.e with my spouse not being there?)

To clarify I hold an Australian passport, I dont need a visa to travel to any European.

My concern is whether I will be let back into the UK on my spouse working visa, without my spouse being there.

I suspect it may. I have a friend living here on an EU spousal visa and he can't leave the country without his wife. My friend is a New Zealander but his wife has a Dutch passport allowing her UK residency. He made enquiries with the Home Office and was advised that he would not be able to reenter the UK with his spousal working visa if he was not travelling with his wife.

Not sure if this will help:

You do not state what passport you hold. I presume that you have a schengen visa for Europe (if you are visiting shengen states) remember that a visa for the UK is NOT a visa for anywhere else. Okay, I am not confident about the "ancestry" bit. My wife is a national of another country (who now holds a UK passport) . Before she held a UK passport, her spouse visa enabled her to come and go pretty much as she pleased. My advice is to make damned sure you can get back BEFORE you leave. Try and call the Home Office immigration people in Croydon.

If yopu have a valid visa then you will have no problems travelling within the EU.

Have fun on your trip!
