How can you tell if a woman you are dating likes you for the person that you are and not things you can buy for her or places you can take her to?

See how available she is when you don't offer/discuss your "fringe benefits". If you're really in doubt, present her somehow with a drawback about you (i.e. you're having some kind of problem these days yourself, you're poor. you've been fired. your ex is hassling you- put to her a situation, contrived or otherwise, wherein you have a need, fault,etc) a situation that requires her potential support/assistance . No matter how minor. Then you can see what she's made of. Perhaps it sounds silly, to put someone to a "test", but depending on how far along your relationship is with her and if you're in doubt somehow about her, go for it. That you even bring this up says something.

Take her on a date that is not expensive. Be yourself completely and see if she sucks up to all of it, or if she has a head on her shoulders. The ones who love you for everything are living in another world. Gotta get down to the daily grind of life and see how you get along then to see. If she is expecting all glitter and glamour, she may not be for real.

She will just like being around you, talking, going for walks, she might pick you up and take you to lunch/dinner, you will not repeatedly hear her ask you to buy her things, it's a mutual relationship, when it happens you will know it.

The easiest way to tell is to find out just how much she would do for you, if you ask her to do something that is totally out of her way, and she does it.....then she simply wants you for you.
