My daughter goes to college at USC and I'd love to go visit her on a regular basis - looking for a timeshare type of arrangement at a condo or home in Malibu.

A timeshare purchase is usually considered to be a lifetime investment. For a short term like you are asking about, four years or less, I would suggest a vacation rental. There are dozens of wonderful places available for arount $2,000 a week, and some for even less, tho not as desireable.

We rent a vacation condo in Pacific Beach, (San Diego) and it is a very pleasant experience.

You should also check with the college. Sometimes they have apartment rentals specifically for visiting parents. Also teachers often rent out rooms to visitors.

Well, I suggest you look through one of those magazine with listings. Price range? Average home in Malibu is around 2.5M right now..so if you're just a single person then a condo is enough... Are you looking for a condo/home around the beach? Or in the canyon?
