When it comes to the drawings for process pipes there are three kinds that are often used. The Process Flow Diagram (PFD) which shows the arrangement of the equipment and materials flowing thru the lines. The Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) shows the arangement of all equipment and instrumentation. The P&ID also shows all of the specs. The PFD and the P&ID do not show how the equipment looks in 3D space you will need to use a isometric drawing to accomplish that. When it comes to symbles and standards the best place to look is the place you plan on working.
