Please do consider LisaW's suggestion!!!
The use of anti-perspirants has been linked to breast cancer.
The armpits are a particularly susceptable area, as it is a central location for glands related to immuno-defense. Using a bunch of chemicals in that area stirs up much physical reaction, which seems to be linked to the development of cancer in the breast region.
Armpit odor may be due to a number of factors, not the least of which is, what we consume. But also in play may be any disease present in the body. Skin is an eliminative organ, so it's supposed to eliminate toxins from the body. Preventing that primary function is not wise!
So to eliminate body odor, I suggest: eat healthy, exercise, use very gentle soap, and use Mineral Salts - which counteracts unpleasant odor, but still allows for elimination through the skin.
I personally recommend "Crystal Stick Body Deodorant". It is natural, hypoallergenic, non-staining, fragrance free, and contains NO Aluminum Chlorohydrate (which is the chemical used in most anti-perspirants that is believed to be carcinogenic.
I will add that it really works!

Soap AND deodorant. Twice a day. A combined anti-perspirant and deodorant is preferable (read the labels). Any brand is fine. Non-synthetic materials for your clothes and regular laundry (no point putting a stinky shirt back over clean 'pits).

100% Mineral salt. The brand "Crystal"You can buy it in roll on or stick in the deoderant aisle. Works great and there is no odor; however, it is not an anti-persperant.

bath regularly. Use soap then deodrant. It's pointless using deodorant on dirty armpits.

I'd shower twice a day, keep the pit hairs shaven & look for an anti-persperant. Most of the "men's" or "sport" ones are a little better than the women's ones.
