About 2 liters per day, regularly spread over the day. And then you should move enough, so that part of the 2 liters you will loose as sweat.

It's tough. It has been said over and over that you're supposed to drink eight glasses (Each glass having to be of eight ounces) of water a day in order to be healthy.
However, some say that it is a complete myth. Your body will tell you when it is thirsty (similar to hunger which is why people eat instead of drinking water).
As for cutting weight, you can't just rely on water. Sure, drinking water is healthy but you still have to look at so many other aspects that also contribute to gaining or losing weight.

If you are trying to acheive weight loss I suggest doing what's called a "Break Through", This is how it works: pick one day to do this. At 10:00 am and at 4 pm drink 3 - 8oz glasses of water in one sitting. Drink whatever in between.
Some how this kicks your system into shedding it's water weight. You'll notice a drop in your weight.

I've always been told 10 8 ounce glasses of water a day is best when trying to lose weight. And drinking cold water burns more calories because your body has to use calories to heat the water to use it.

Aside from the 3 regular meals in a day, drink a glass of water every time you're hungry.

Weight Watchers recommends four 8-ounce glasses a day. If you are from the UK, sorry, I don't know how to convert it. Good Luck!
