My Friend Claims to be a devout catholic and she even goes as far to say that she can't use condoms because of her religion...but doesn't the bible also say that your not supposed to have sex before your married...because she isn't. It's not just her but it seems like alot of people pick and choose what they follow out of the bible...but if its really the one true word of God shouldn't you follow everything? I know that Catholics change things around alot...but if you are a devout christian then shouldn't you be against war...because Jesus says to Love your enemies and to turn the other cheek. Right?

Well Pat...the basis of what i said is...The Assumption of Mary...Worshipping saints...no where in the bible does it condone that...Popes have made things infallable...that right there should send up warning flags

It is not just Catholics that 'pick and choose' from the precepts of their religion. We all 'pick and choose' according to our own wants and needs at the moment. Your example of the condoms and premarital sex is an excellent example.
In an absolute and perfect world we would follow the ten commandments, all the precepts of our individual faith tradition, the policies and regualtions of our place of employment, policies of the school we attend, the laws set forth by the state and federal......i could go on and on. Do you understand? We cant follow everything perfectly because we are not perfect people. But we are called to walk TOWARDS perfection. Most of us will fall short. But as we age, as we mature, as we grow in knowledge we will make decisions that are based in truth.
And- why do you feel that Catholics 'change things around a lot'. What is your basis for that statement?

The fact is we are all sinners. We are saved by faith. But true salvation is for the ones who endure to the end. Those who accept the atonement of Jesus have been saved by faith in reality they still reside in a sinful world in there sinful flesh.Now if I claim to be saved by faith and I live my life as if there is no God then I am living a lie because it is evident that I have no faith. Now I am no longer under penalty of law therefore I am not held accountable for all that I do therefore beings as i am in the flesh and living in the sinful world I may do things which I myself do not agree with it is not accounted as sin to me as I am not under law but under grace. those who accept the atonement of Christ are no longer under the penalty of law. Though they should reckon the man of sin dead as Christ did die on the cross. Therefore we should not let sin reign over us but serve God. I recommend Romans Chapter 6. It teaches these things much better than I can.

doesn't matter what religion u follow ppl for their practicality will change their way of life and alternate rules and dogmas of their religions which sometimes makes no sense we know from experience religions shrinking their existence thru blinded teachings u can say blind is leading blind if u like to hit me one u can do from other side so pain can br in the balanceand will snap u out of the slumber

you are right many follow only what suits them and yes christians should all be against war.God is love and its up to us to share that love, even so when you see others hate you and are determined to destroy your way of life I think some times we have to be willing to fight

this practice is rife in hinduism. they have a thousand gods. including cows monkeys and snakes. they choos gods as their situation arises

I know this one....BECAUSE RELIGION IS A CRUTCH AND A WAY FOR THEM TO NOT HAVE TO CONSIDER LIFE'S GREATEST MYSTERYS FOR THEMSELVES.
