I'm aware that a nightcap is an alcoholic drink at the end of the evening. But, when someone invites you "in for a nightcap," are they really offering you a drink, or is it an invitation for sex? I know it's often used as an innuendo, but should I always assume that the person is offering sex instead of just a drink? Are they ever just offering a drink?

This can be a bit tricky. Generally they are offering you a drink to see where it leads. Sometimes it can lead to sex, but not always.
It is an invitation to get to know you a little better, if the progression leads to intimacy, then you get sex.

Sounds like you want it be an offering of sex. Never assume until you accept the invitation and see where it leads from there. What I mean by that is, don't go to the 'nightcap' and start the whole the process of sex. Maybe your date only wants to offer you a drink.

In my experience, if she invites you up for a drink it's because she has already decided she wants to bang you..it means sex.

always assume you are being offered a night cap ONLY --- coffee drink --- your company is liked and the date is being extended so enjoy the company and if something else does happen well enjoy that as well

They are offering you alcohol in the hopes that you will get drunk enough to be willing to engage in sex.

Something to drink definitely, but not necessarily sex. This may or may not happen. It all depends later on both of you.
