Things like cakes are best viewed (and tasted) in person as opposed to the internet.
I'd focus your attention in your own local area: flyers posted at kid-friendly or party planning places, an ad in your local newspaper/city guide (these are great), getting listed with your local chamber of commerce, network with people in related products (flowers, party planning, etc). If your town has some kind of fair/expo/carnival or the like, try getting a booth there to show off your cakes. Any/all of these can direct folks to your website for more info. (Sorry most of these aren't free, but the maxim is true that you have to spend money in order to make money.)

When it comes to food, nothing beats "word of mouth"! Use opportunities to give a small slice with your phone number & website address to all your friends & family at any gathering. Give a slice to anyone celebrating a birthday, etc. With so many people watching their calories, a slice rather than a whole cake is sometimes better for your test market. Sell slices at a bazaar, or flea market. Give a flyer & sample to your local places of business. The owners may purchase for staff.

Build the trust and a name with other members and they will order your cakes :-)

This time of year, most of the local schools will hold a fall festival - at least down south they do. Donate one of your creations for the cake walk & make sure to have a small card showing your name & ways to contact you for orders. You can also check out local craft fairs, church bazars, etc for an easy way for potential customers to see and taste your work.
