Like sheep that have strayed from their shepherd, so the nation of Israel had strayed from the true worship of the Great Shepherd, Jehovah God. Their religion had become corrupted by human philosophies and traditions. Because the religious leaders had become like blind guides Jesus said: “Blind guides is what they are. If, then, a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” (Matt. 15:14) Those religious leaders were well entrenched in their positions of authority and did not welcome the efforts of Christ to change the religious thinking of the people. Yet change was necessary for those people to gain the favor of God. That is why Jesus said "your hosue is abandoned to you" they are no longer Gods chosen people, but as Jesus said to his disciples to later preach to people out of ALL the nations!!! The jews were Giods chosen people but they rejected Gods son. That is why now God is leading his true followers on the earth today to search out deserving ones.

God IS guiding them. It's just that their neighbours want to make things difficult for them. Look at the Yom Kippur War of 1973, when Egypt and Syria launched a combined attack on Israel during the holy day of Yom Kippur, when the whole of Israel was celebrating. On the Golan Heights, 180 Israeli tanks faced off against 1,400 Syrian tanks, and along the Suez border, 436 Israeli defenders were attacked by 80,000 Egyptians. The Muslim nations around them also aided the battle against Israel. However, Israel counterattacked and drove back the invaders until the UN Security Council intervened.

It is only because of God's mercy that Israel is a state. Since the miracle of 1948 when Israel became a nation(the only thing the UN ever got right) they have endured five wars against insurmountable odds. Yet inspite of vastly superior numbers of their enemies they have won every war. This was impossible except for a miracle of God Almighty. If you study the modern day history of Israel, it reads like OT stories out of the Bible.

I believe God is protecting them, if not they would no longer exist. The Bible tell us a remnant would still be here to the end. God has started gathering them back to their homeland. In the end many will find the Savior Jesus.

Because they are in unbelief of their Messiah. When the day comes that they recognize Him the tide will turn very quickly.
Romans 11:25,, "...that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; 26 and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, "THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB." 27 "THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS."

This is what happens when a country starts listening to liberals both within and elsewhere in the world, and then gets leaders who don't think or act like their warriors of old.

this is a great question and one I ask too. one of the many thoughts I ponder is this....
what if God chooses his strongest peoples, true survivors(one of which are our Jewish friends) to make visible the hateful and damaging actions human nature is sadly capable of. most human beings view this with tears, shame and great sadness, etc.
maybe only when the "volume" of this dark side of our nature is turned way up do we begin to make the pendulum swing towards all the love, compassion, tolerance, and respect we are capable of.
i don't know,just one of many thoughts.
