Sibelius is best described at the musical equivalent of MS Word. You compose/arrange/cut and paste/edit/delete etc., etc., but you are doing it with musical notes and musical instruments instead of words. It is a fantastically powerful program, and is now at Sibelius 4 level. See www.sibelius.com for more info.
Good luck!

It's used for writing scores of music. The most recent version is actually Sibelius 4. You write your music with notation on the computer, then you can print it off for people to play!! - The sounds of the instruments on the computer are a bit crappy, but who really cares... when it's gonna be played live!! (hopefully!)

It's a professional-quality music scoring program - it's like word processing for music. It allows you to lay out scores for printing. Very good piece of software.
