Which Buddhism is better for spare time???
Isn't Buddhism a method of enlightenment, rather than a "spare time" activity?
I'll meditate on it for you ...

I think that Zen Buddhism is more basic. Buddhism in general is a beautiful philosophy, because it teaches reliance upon unity with the universe and all encompassing acceptance.

I'm Japanese, and practice Zen meditation time to time, and it is great. Since the concept is to forcus on nothingness, it makes me 'un'think of small worries and leaves my mind completely in peace...
If you are interested, read "Zen and Art of Archery" by Eugen Herrigel. The German Philosophy professor trained in archery in Japan for 6 years, and it shows how his Western view point transform through practice, and it has a good cultural insight about Japan. Short but beautifully written. Also recommended by Daisetz Suzuki, the zen master. :)

Buddhism is a way of life. It's not a religion you can use just on Friday's Saturday's or Sunday's. Sounds like you want a convenience religion (like convenience food).Do you only live in your spare time? If so, then Buddhism isn't for you.

properly i'm going to provide you a sentence which will illustrate Zen. once you run down the stairs quickly you do no longer think of approximately which foot is going while or the place or you're possibly to break your neck. it is Zen.

If you have read 20 books and haven't a clue what you want, give up and wait. You are not moving closer to god. Just wait for him to come find you. Religion is all foolish trappings of this world and not from god. Jesus put them all in their place but as soon as he died, they were back to their old statue worship, incense shrouded hocus pocus and burning the heretics.
