corporal punishment

There are several reasons a cat leaves the litter box. One is cleanliness, as previously stated. Another is illness. He might be "showing" you he is not feeling well and is basically begging for you to "take a look" or "I need your help." My male Persian used to do this when he had a bladder or kidney infection.

Once a cat urinates somewhere, it has the scent and he might just be returning because it has become "a new box!" Remove the doormat and clean, if you can. If you cannot clean the doormat I would recommend buying a new one! If it is an indoor/outdoor kitty I would also ask you to consider a kitty door as they could be telling you - you aren't opening the door when they need you to.

If you catch the cat weeing then you must give it a smack with a newspaper and put it outside so that it knows what it is doing is wrong, Also look if there is something or someone who is not scaring the cat outside and if your cat is male he could be marking his territory because there is another male in the area in that case have him neuted,

Wash your doormat with a mixture of 1litre soda water, 1 cup fabric softener you can add about 1/2 litre water with if you want it removes the smell of the wee then you sprinkle white pepper on the doormat cat will or rather should not go back there again.

Good Luck

I have heard that cats don't like the smell of lemon so you cold try and put pieces of lemon on the doormat but the best thing to do is to take your cat to the vet and see if there isn't something wrong with your cat.

1. Disciplining a cat by punishing it only works if you catch it in the act. The preferred method to punish a cat is to spray it with water from a water squirter. Cats really dislike this, but it does them no harm.
2. Try feeding your cat at that location, cats seldom soil where they are fed.
3 Have a look in your pet store for repellents, there should be loads to chose from, this will make the place where they soil unattractive (don't use the repellent on the same spot were it is fed)

Get a litter box and start with scent free litter. Make sure the cat don't have a urinary infection. Is the cat fixed? If it isn't, there is your proplem right there. It smells othr cats and is doing this. many years ago, my male did this and I got him fixed, he no longetr did it and became a nice indoor house cat. When he did go out with us, he never left the yard and came in with us, and stayed so very clean.

Usually when a cat starts 'going' outside of their litter box it is because it is not 'clean enough' in the cats opinion. Change the litter daily and they should stop doing this.

get it fixed. It's marking its territory on the doormat. So other outdoor cats know that area is taken.

Oh poor little pussycat.... he/she just simply doesn't know what he/she is doing. OR MAYBE, it's the cat's little own way of getting back at you for spanking or hurting him whenever you have the chance. Cat's are little monster sometimes you know, you just don't know when or where it will strike you. My suggestion, make your cat wear a DIAPER, in that way, it can wee whenever and wherever it wants without annoying you... stay cool... c",)

If you catch the cat after it is done spray it with a water gun or throw a little water on it.
