It depends where you are going and why! Most holiday companies (Thomas Cook Thomsons etc) require parental permission if you are under 18 (especially if you are going on one of their 18 - 30 packages - you have to be at least 17 for those) In the UK it depends upon what you intend to do i don't think there are many restrictions I know i went camping from the age of 15 with friends of the same sort of age and we had no problems. For flying with most airlines you have to be over 16 although some will accept you on your own once you are 12 (however most airlines will want to see a letter from parents and some ask for details of those who are dropping off and collecting). However why would you want to go on holiday alone?

Don't know now, but I left home at 17 and travelled all over England and Wales, returning home at the end of summer. Only problem was getting served in some pubs. At the end of the summer, I had to get another job to pay for it all.

When I was eleven I went on 200 mile day trips by train, organised but it meant travelling 50 miles by train and by tube across London to meet the trip. I found it easier then than now!
