repetition, repetition, repetition.
You might also try writing down sentences with the words in question then re-reading them. That worked for me in school trying to memorize word lists.
Good luck, und aufwiedersehen..................

I'm sorry there is no easy and fast way to learn the articles in German. You just have to learn the gender together with the nouns.
And there are also no real mnemonic devices like sverthfreyr said. His "all vehicles except the plane are masculine" proves my point for this is wrong as das Auto (car) or das Fahrrad (bike) for example are neuter and die Lok (locomotive) would be feminine. No logic in that.
But for the rest I agree with him, the best way to learn a language is to use it as often as possible. Then it becomes fun.
And as a German I can assure you, even if you get all genders wrong, people will still understand what you're saying and highly appreciate that you're making an effort to learn the language.
So don't be afraid to just talk even if it's not perfectly correct German. With the practice it will get better and better. (That's how I learned English)

Make sure that you learn the gender as part of the word. In this way, you do not have to go back and learn it. Often, you can find a mnemonic device to remember the gender (for example, vehicles in German are masculine, with the exception of das Flugzeug (airplane), which is neuter). Also, a number of suffixes act as gender markers ("-er" or "-in" at the end of words describing profession).
Also, use the language as much as possible. Repeat the things you learn out loud to get used to saying them. Make some German friends and let them correct you while you help them with their English. Learning the language might be difficult at some points, but overall, it should be enjoyable.

I've studied German continuously for over 30 years and I still haven't found a foolproof method to know which nouns are "der" "die" or "das." Es tut mir furchtbar leid, aber so ist das Leben!
