Try doing it yourself, and you'll wind up corrupting, and/or losing all the personal files you have in your hard disc as well !
A professional software expert should be called-in : If your hard disc is already partitioned, he/she will know how best to parallelly install a Windows '98 in another partition other than the one in which your Windows XP is installed.
If not partitioned, all your personal files will first have to be copied off your hard disc, and stored. Then the hard disc will have to be formatted, and partitioned into at least 3 sections - after which the XP can be installed in one partition, and the '98 in another. Then your personal files can be copied back into the 3rd partition, and you can use either the XP or '98 after that...
...One wrong step, and you could wind-up with more damage to your hard disc and personal files - which would cost you a small fortune to attempt restoring.
So, play it safe, please - and call in a pro to handle your needs.
Best of Luck.

Make use of a utility called "Norton Ghost" developed by the Symantec corp. This utility allows us to back up the whole Operating System with installed programs onto a location in the Hard Disk, from where it can later be retrieved and installed back using the Ghost floppy. We can simultaneously have Ghost images of many operating systems and even multiple images of the same operating system. However, only one of these operating systems can be present, installed at a given time. Try to get the downloadable version of Norton Ghost either by going to the symantec website or by making a request.

I think it's impossible.
After formatting your hard drive, install Windows 98 first.
Then install Windows XP

You would normally install win98 ♦before♦ winXP, but in your case, you could do some housekeeping with Partition Magic to make room for 98.
