I understand what you are asking, since SWAT teammembers are usually wearing masks when serving warrants, responding to emergencies you probably are wanting to ask when they are not conducting SWAT-detail can they identify themselves?
---THE ANSWER IS YES, THEY CAN AND THEY DO.
A good example is a documentary show that is on Court TV network, its called Dallas SWAT. When SWAT officers that are off duty, or better said when they are conducting regular patrol just like regular police officers they wear patches or insignia stating that they ARE on SWAT, they introduce themselves as SWAT etc etc........
It ain't no secret.....undercovers or Drugs & Vice.....thats a little different story.

i'm unsure if I understand your question wisely, yet i will inform you that i'm finished time SWAT and don't act as a police officer in my previous ability. besides the indisputable fact that, i'm a police officer nevertheless, I do in simple terms no longer do the common patrols which you would be touching on. As an entire time SWAT officer I in basic terms cope with and prepare for SWAT correct incidents. Many cities might have section-time SWAT officers inspite of the indisputable fact that by way of guy means. i'm federal and we've an entire-time group. State infantrymen do have SWAT communities whether i do no longer understand on whether or no longer they dedicate finished-time communities, my wager is they do no longer. G'success it incredibly is a great profession and extremely some exciting, assuming you like actual coaching:)

SWAT team members are specially trained police officers and are not required to keep their identity secret. Perhaps you are thinking about undercover police officers.

LMAO this should be in jokes and riddles...SWAT Members don't have to keep their ID a secret.
Special Forces members do have to keep their IDs secret for the purpose you named...Those guys don't even have their name stitched to their uniforms like every other military member does.

Ask the guys on the tv show "Dallas Swat" if their identities need to be kept secret. They look pretty visible to me.

SWAT officers are not undercover. Narcotics officers are usually the undercover ones, who should not acknowledge that they are cops.
