Nail on the head!
Christians are like, "let's just totally ignore all proven scientific methodology and stubbornly insist that the sun revolves around the Earth, because it says so in the bible!!"
Or,"To hell with carbon dating! Dinosaurs were here only six thousand years ago, when the earth was first created along with the first humans!"
"All the humans in the early times lived for like 600 to 900 years"
"You can fit a pair of every single species of animal alive at the time of Noah, into a wooden boat he made"
And on and on they go...........
Pathetic!!!

Creationists don't sound absurd. Strict creationists, literal creationists, the ones that have NO CLUE about reality, well you have people like that in all fields, belief systems, etc.
Just look at Islam. I rest my case.
BTW:
1) Great comic
2) Recently a lecture was given at UCSD regarding the fact that creationism and evolution are not necessarily mutually exclusive. This is what I've tried to point out to people for some time. An omnipotent higher being can do what it wants by any method, why not evolution? As for the universe, the earth and everything on it being created in 6 days - the more sane amoung the religious recognize that is not to be taken literally.
As for YnotAskDonut, that about sums him/her up apparently, but I will say this - the Bible exists so you'd better believe in it since it certainly is not imaginary or whatever. As for how literally you want to take it, or if you just take it as an interesting (historically, culturally, etc.) collection of writings, a guide to life or something special as in the Word of God, well that's entirely up to you. Or you can disregard it completely too.

Now that we can examine DNA and quantify the relatedness of various species how can we possibly still be having this argument? Did I say argument? The creationists have no argument. Their argument is some scientifically illiterate religious fanatics wrote it down a few thousand years ago so it must be true.
The problem seems to be that evolution provides the answer to the question "how did humans come to be" but some people don't like the answer so they deny the overwhelming evidence. Evolution points out that the Bible is a lie and evolution emphasizes that we humans are animals, not above nature but rather part of it. And evolution erodes the credibility of those who claim to be representing "god" and are therefore entitled to our money and our obedience.
Granted the vast amounts of time involved since life's origins on earth are hard to fathom but when you look at the incredible variation we can produce through artificial selection in just a few generations is it really that hard to extrapolate for 10s of thousands or 100s of thousands or millions of years?

I don't see why it matters! Everyone has come to a conclusion only because they got tired of thinking, and the subject is pointless.
The scientific method seems a little more logical of a approach however they don't have enough answers.
The creationism method has answers but they haven't got anything to back it.
So I have drawn my own conclusion. I'm going to join the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory. At least they know they're all out of their minds. And besides.... they promised me I could be a pirate:)

True science is a repeatable method of obtaining the same results.
The scientific community has changed its views on how it all started several times over the last 5 years. There are NO facts only speculations drawn from possibilities.
The scientific method and the creationist method are the same
One starts without God and then draws its conclusions
the other starts with God and draws its conclusions
Sorry your question is so bias IT is absurd!

Creationists sound stupid because the real debate over origins is philosophical, not scientific.
So, people like you ask creationists to prove an apple using an orange.
Although if you want to hear stupid, then just ask any evolutionist to give a detailed explanation for evolution on ANY level.
Science is conditional truth, not truth. Why can't people understand what that means???

I am sincerely impressed. You are the first anti-creationist I have read who could string that many sentences together correctly, with correct spelling. As a matter of record, the vast majority of scientists who believe in the Creation Theory were actually trying to debunk said theory when they discovered it was correct.

Because they are often speaking out against very well established evidence, though this need not be the case. If one accepts that metaphor can speak to a deeper truth, then there is nothing contradictory between creationism and evolution.

I agree with that statement completely. They sound absurd because they are ignorant. It's precisely as you said, they blindly follow their 'conclusion', ignoring any and all facts that prove otherwise.
