Im afraid very few medications in the world provide treatment. Medications are used to remove symptoms most of the time, not treat the problem. For example, you body hurts for a reason. Simply removing the pain just allows you to bend past that pain and hurt things even worse.
I suggest you do some stretching and consult an applied kinesiology doctor who can help you sort these things out. They will get to the root of the problem instead of masking the pain and symptoms

A back ache is a symptom. What is the diagnosis? Is it muscular, neural, discogenic, joint (facet or sacroilliac) in nature? Could it be referred prostate cancer? Could it be an illiac artery disruption? Could it be referred from a pelvic tumor?
A diagnosis is therapeutic here. Once you are correctly diagnosed with a good history and physical examination followed by apropriately guided diagnostic testing, then the treatment will be much clearer and curative. Do not just/only treat the pain, treat the cause of the pain.

There are several things that can cause back pain; arthritis, problems with discs, problems with nerves, muscle pain, etc.If you have severe pain, unusual swelling and problems with mobility, get to a doctor.
If you are talking about a little strain from over activity, an over the counter pain killer (Motrin or Tylenol) followed by a soak in hot water and Epsom salts might bring relief. However if you are pregnant or have hypertension, do not try this remedy. A linement might help.

backaches can be tricky....
several things can cause them-muscle injury or strain, slipped or bulging disks, nerve damage....
if this has been a prolonged issue-get it looked at asap b/c the longer you wait, the worse it gets and may eventually require surgery. my dad had a slipped disk and waited so long to have it looked at, that one of his nerves eventually got wrapped around the disk and he couldn't stand up straight for two months until his surgery was done. he said the pain was unimaginable.
if it's just sore from exercise or extra activity then soak in a tub of hot water or take a warm shower. this will help loosen up the muscles.
you can also take ibuprofen for the pain and swelling (it has an anti-inflammatory in it). take 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours.
you can also ask your dr about Ultram-it's a prescription drug that is stronger than over the counter pain meds but is non-narcotic so you won't run the risk of getting addicted to it.
good luck and i hope you feel better soon

Go and see an Osteopath, don't bother with your GP - they rarely know much about muscular back pain and you'll just get a long wait for a referral to someone does. Osteopaths are much better trained than Physio's etc and are well worth the money (About £30 per session).
Until then, take regular Ibuprofen or whatever pain relief works for you.

I would say to get some proper treatment - depending on what the problem is.
I find a good Osteopath is worth his weight in gold.
Or, if you are talking about painkillers - different types work better for some than others.
