Hay Unos Ojos
written by Rubén Fuentes
Hay unos ojos que si me miran
Hacen que mi alma tiemble de amor
Son unos ojos tan primorosos
Ojos más lindos no he visto yo.
¡Ay!, quien pudiera mirarse en ellos
¡Ay!, quien pudiera besarlos más
Gozando siempre de sus destellos
Y no olvidarlos nunca jamás.
Y todos dicen que no te quiero
Que no te adoro con frenesí
Y yo les digo que mienten, mienten
Que hasta la vida daría por ti.
According to Mendoza, this ia a danza
habanera, a folk dance reflecting the Cuban
influence which was strong in Mexico
following the revolution of 1910. The
rhythm of this waltz has an elegantly
graceful nineteenth century Creole cadence.

This is a question almost impossible to answer for lack of space!
The music in spanish is so varied and rich!! ...From Spain to Latin America, from the 18th to the 21st century, innumerable songs and poems put to music have surronded us...
Try "Los Panchos" (mexican trio that has been singing for over 50 years) for beautiful ballads and wonderful lyrics...For example: "Si tu me dices ven"
Go to the websites of most of the modern singers, who evidently have their own pages...Such as David Bisbal, David Bustante, Luis Miguel, Alejandro Sanz, Ricky Martin, Chayanne, Carlos Baute, Juanes (La Camisa Negra (not la cabeza) is his). And these are just a few of the current male singers! If you go back a few years there is Raphael from Spain, still singing, but not as much as in the 70's (Yo Soy Aquel, Quien Sabe Nadie, etc.)
And I haven't even given you names of female singers ( for ex. Gloria Estefan) or trios and duos (such as "El Dúo Dinámico from the 60's ("15 Años Tiene Mi Amor"), Los del Rio with their famous spanish rumba "Macarena"!).
The older singers such as Armando Manzanero, and the mexican Pedro Infante of the 40's.
And I haven't even started looking through my discs!
Two of my very favourite songs are "Aquellos Ojos Verdes" which has many versions, from Nat King Cole's soft voice singing it back in the 50's to Plácido Domingo singing it in his magnificent tenor voice now! And another one is "Ojos Verdes" sung by a spanish singer named Concha Piquer (and that goes way back to the 30's!)

DREAMING OF YOU! This song by Selena, which become popular only after her murder, includes some words in Spanish in the background. The album of the same name includes "Amor prohibido" and "Como la flor," both of which enjoyed popularity in Latin America.

Just to correct BrooklynGirl, it's "La Camisa Negra" by Juanes, and yes, it's an awesome song. Also check out "Nada Fue un Error" by Coti.
