I feed my 4 month French Bulldog puppy Natural Balance Duck + Potato. I notice that he scratches his back paws and lower belly area quite often. He has a couple of small red spots on his belly. Could this be a food allergy or fleas? I have cleaned my house thoroughly and recently bath him and checked his coat and found no traces of fleas.

The pet food store recommended Wellness Venison + Rice food. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good allergy food or any other ideas?

Thanks!

the ones you are feeding should be fine..I would look for another source of allergens..such as carpet cleaner, air freshener, pollen, (this is the season) dust mites, mould/mildew, grasses, yard sprays, Swiffer wet jet..etc..
This is a symptom of canine Atopy.. This is a good site to help you understand and deal with this condition..

I actually have a 3 month old frenchie too. I've had to switch her food abunch of times now but it seems like Science Diet Puppy (Small bites) seems to be working really well. Her poop isn't runny at all. I've also been soaking her food before I give it to her because she barely chews. And this type of food is meant to be given for 1 whole year so that makes things pretty easy! Hope this helps!

This could be a food allergies .Or an allergies to something else. Take him to the vet. That would be best.

Ask your vet about Clovite. A dog breeder gave me some and it worked great for our Cairn Terrier.
