Without getting into a long discussion on creational metaphysics, existentialism, phenomenology and the universe, yes, I do believe that matter and energy existed forever without a Creator.

No! Because of the two laws of thermodynamics. 1. nothing new is being created. 2. everything is going down hill, toward death and randomness. Its not just a good idea, its the law.

Even if you say "god made it" you come back to "who made god?"

if matter can not come from nowhere, neither can god. Either everything must come from something or nothing can.
