used to be if they were goverment issued (at least with in the Navy, which I did serve in) they were (slang)called "BCD's" ( Birth control devices) goodness those things were ugly.
And yes I wore them for several years, (just for truthsayers info).

Throughout the military the old brown thick framed glasses are referred to as BCG's (as others have stated-Birth Control Glasses). In the Marine Corps Recruit Training, they are also referred to as portholes. The Marine Corps still issues the old brown thick framed glasses to recruits. Once out of recruit training, new Marines can get new "stylish" frames from Navy Medical.

Alexandra has obviously never served only going off of hear say...or what she thinks she heard...I could see where you would have gotten BCD's b/c it sounds like BCG's which is the correct answer. Birth Control Glasses. But the Army has since done away with those and now have a new style so Im not sure they still refer to them as BCG'S.
