The wire is wound into a coil around a cardboard sleeve. The sleeve fits over/around a circular magnet. As the electricity changes to back and forth in the coil it is quickly setting up a magnetic field which acts with or against the permant magnet, vibrating the coil which is attached to the main speaker membrane, which vibrates and is heard... sound .. vibrating air.

When an electron passes through a magnetic field, there is a force on the electron (the force is passed on to the copper). The force is perpendicular to both the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of the electric current. So by changing the direction of the current, you change the direction the speaker moves.

simplly it works like that, the wire is forming a coil at the core of the magnet at the back of the speaker, and the coil is attached to the membrane ( the paper or plastic membrane that moves wen the speaker emits sound ), wen the curent passes through the coil it forms a magnetic field that moves the coil along the core of the magnet and so moves the membrane.
the membrane moves back and forth according to the frequency applied to the coil, so the speaker transforms the transverse electric wave to a longtudinal sound wave

when current goes through the ires a magneticfield is created.
This field is attracted by a magnet near the copperwiring.
It moves the conus of the speaker and thus displaces air , wich is sound.
