Exercise, a better diet going to bed around the same time every night. Also, when you are tossing and turning, get out of bed. Go to a different room and read, watch TV, anything else. It does you no good to just lay there. Try these things out. If your mind races, try talking with a friend. Getting all that stuff off your chest and out of your head helps alot. Hope it works.

I suffer from insomnia often and try not to turn to drugs to help me. So when i can't fall asleep, ive noticed its when i havent really been getting a lot fo excercise, so i would make sure im getting daily excercise in (even if its just walking a few blocks). Otherwise, i drink warm milk or chamomile tea or read something really boring (like a text book!) that actually makes me fall asleep. Goodluck. And if this doesn't work, i'm sorry but drugs are pretty much the only other answer - i take a half or whole gravol or antihistimine like benadryl instead of investing in an actual sleep aid or perscription.

This'll put you out like a light and is completely drug free. It's a three step process.

1. Get a large hammer like a mallet or a 3 to 5 lb sledge. If all you have is a claw hammer be sure to use the flat end.

2. Strike yourself in the forehead, as close to the center as possible and as hard as you can.

3. Repeat until you fall asleep.

Stick to a regular schedule of getting up and going to bed. Take a warm bath before bedtime. Don't go to bed hungry or full. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine. Get really comfy sheets and make your bedroom as dark as possible.

You should observe some rules on 'sleep hygiene': *Do not read or watch movies right before you go to sleep. *Do not read or eat on the bed. *Make a fixed plan for your sleep: when to sleep and when to wake up. *Do not eat much fatty or spicy food. *Do not smoke cigarettes. *Have some exercise during the day. *Try valerian tea. *Smile and laugh more!

Physical activity, but not just before bedtime. Have a little snack just before bed. Read something boring. Masterbate. Talk to my mother-in-law. She can put anyone to sleep.
