i just recently became vegetarian (2 months ago). There is a really good website (GOVEG.COM) that will send you a free vegetarian starter kit. It is very helpful and gives recipes that are meat-free(duh) and what to substitute for you meats so you still get all you nutrients. im only 15 and my parents said that they will buy me soy burgers and hot dogs to eat at home, but i'm not allowed to complain about what is cooked for supper. instead i just eat the veggies or whatever side dishes were cooked and a soy meat product. so far it has been very beneficial to my health. i feel more enegized and i am losing weight in my thighs (which needed to be lost) you can tell your mom the benefits of being vegetarian (which are listed on goveg.com). hope this helps and good luck :)

Cheese pizza is pleasant. Vegetarian chili (sans meat) is pleasant. Vegetarian lasagna is extraordinary. Mashed potatoes with vegetable gravy...Tacos! Nachos. Something I love is a meatball sub with out the meatballs- simply the marinara sauce, cheese, mayo and scorching peppers. I'm now not pleasant with the nutrients facet of being vegetarian, however I do realize what tastes well. :)

Well I'm a recent vegetarian and I didn't go to a doctor. To supplement protein you can eat beans, vegetables (are superior and equal to the amount of protein in meat) and peanuts or any type of nut. You can also eat fish casually so its not so hard.

First talk to your parents about it. They should respect your opinions and beliefs. No one should be forced to eat meat if they really feel it is wrong for whatever reason. Next, talk to your doctor and get all the facts. You want to make sure you stay healthy. Last, good luck with this. I certainly could not do it but I wish you luck in trying to do what is right for yourself. Take care.

The main concern is protein. Most vegetables have incomplete proteins, so you try to mix them to get a whole protein, like beans and rice, not just one or the other. You can eat soy protein, and for calcium, green leafy vegtable, also they make OJ with calcium. Also some products have animal products in them you may not be aware of, like gummy bears and jello. The gelatin is an animal product.
