Don't follow a religion....follow Christ!

Christ_lover: I am a Christan and I HATE RELIGION !!! Religion is man-made and controls people with Do ' s and Don 't s !!! Religion uses cohercement to get people to conform. i.e: hell fire - do this or don't do that 'cause you'll go to hell and burn. No I follow after SPIRITUALITY. A big difference. Spirituality supplies a person with the essential RELATIONSHIP with the Creator, God, through Jesus Christ, via Grace. Because spirituality transforms the mind, you want to love God and people. Religion promotes legalism (conformity); whereas, spirituality promotes love through free choice. Since God is LOVE, people have a choice because love offers people choice. So; if you answer Christianity is the "correct religion", are you one because you have to be or because you want to be - Which? !!!

First you will have to discern what religions are false. False religions meddle in war and politics. “If anyone makes the statement : I love God, and yet is hating his brother, he is a liar” (1 John 4:20). Jesus said “continue to love your enemies” (Matthew 5:44). How many religions can you think of that engage in war?

False religions tolerate immoral sex. “Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom” (1 Corinthians 6: 9, 10).

False religions spread false doctrine. Most religions teach that the soul or spirit survive after death. The Bible says “the soul that is sinning it itself will die” (Ezekiel 18:4) “ For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all” ( Ecclesiastes 9:5). Does your religion teach these things?

Well, "correctness" depends all on opinion.

In MY opinion, none of them are "correct". I'm agnostic--so I don't know and don't care. There is no way to find out about whether God ultimately exists. It's impossible...a mystery. So people come up with many ideas about it...the oh so many religions out there.
They may be all wrong. They may be right. I'm just neutral on the whole issue...

Well, I would say all the religions that let each other live as they want - as opposed to any teachings that promotes killing people is the closest to the correct path to GOD.
Teachings that insist on feeding and caring for each other make seem closer to the path GOD wants us on; more sence than any teaching of hate or intolerance.
But I don't know, sorry.

The only 'correct' religion at this point in time is agnosticism, which states that no religion can be proven or disproven. It is the only one that does not require an absolute knowledge and makes no absolute claims, and cannot be refuted by logical means.

You're going to get a bunch of answers for this one. Everyone will be willing to tell you which church they think is true. Here is my advice. Go to the library and pick up a book called something like "Religions of the World." Most of what is in there is pretty accurate. Also look for official church websites like www.aish.com (that's Jewish) or www.lds.org (that's mormon). Most of those types should have a "Basic Belief" link or a why to get in contact with teacher/missionaries, etc. Also, pray about it. I believe the Lord aswers prayers...

Depends on the person. What's right for one may not be right for another, and don't you dare tell me that the only "true" religion is Christianity. Because it's not. How can something that's so clearly a rip off from other religions be true and right?

For who?

This is a personal question that each individual must answer on their own.

There are more criteria than this forum provides space for to list. To limit it down to the LCD, it would have to be the religion that answered all your spiritual questions satisfactorily, AND that you felt comfortable with.

It is not right to criticize other religions but I have to remind you
never involve yourself in man-made religion . (declaration of human as God) Use your heart to see the religion not by your naked eyes. There is no other religion better than God's religion.
Simply because we are created by the God. God knows his creation better then anybody. It is the only true religion.

The one with the truth. In the end the only thing that will matter is the truth no matter what we think or believe. I could give you my opinion on what the truth since I think it is blatantly obvious. I think all who really want\ to know the truth and come at the question completely unbiased will come to the same conclusion.
