I mean if there is going to be a 3rd WW , america / britain and their side is going to lose . Japan as usual seem to have elected the losing side. Hitler and team started WW2 in similar conditions. Their arrogance and over ambitious nature caused the world a lot of agony so that the rest of the world had to join together to put a stop to it.
Do you see any difference in the actions of Bush and bLiar??

to uk expat: you are right about WW1 .
to angel raising hell : US & UK are not the only ones with nukes. Come on , a bunch of rag tag terrorrists were able to strike the heart of america. They even attacked your pentagon. And about resources. america is living on money borrowed from china and other asians.
US & UK cannot even win Iraq. ( that too against
a handfull of freedom fighters there !! ) It is only a question of time before the occuppiers are kicked out!!

Japan was on the winning side in WWI. They picked the losing in WWII. 9/11 was a surprise attack, like Pearl Harbor. Largely because our own government did not take Al Queada and the Taliban seriously. If it were up to me, the minute any group in the world attacked America in anyway, we would hunt them down and kill them like animals. If it meant invading a country to do it fine by me. Do it fast, put in enough force, do the job, and ignore any protests. The USS Cole was enough excuse to invade Afastigian in the spring of 2001. An American ship, especially a warship is American soil.

One World War is always? Japan lost during WWII because they did not have the resources to fight a protracted war so the made a giant mistake attacking a nation with vast resources (the U.S.)
Germany lost WWII because the over extend their military and had too large of a front to sustain. Had Germany ignored Russia and Britain they could have subdued the entirety of the Central and Western Europe and after solidifying those lines then made the move on the others.
Those nations made giant tactical errors trying to overextend their capabilities. The United States has not overextended yet. Not saying it is not possible, just not near there yet.

I think u have over generalised a bit much but i see ur point. I think, and this only my humble 2cents, in the past Japan has adhered to a very rigid and organised social and cultural system within the confines of their country. As such they have had unrealistic expectations about the actions of their 'enemies'. In the past Japan, at a political level, has either over estimated their opponents' moralistic codes by which they believed warfare to be governed and have been blind-sided as a result. Or the Japanese have dramatically under estimated their opponents and gained the same end result. However, Japan, as a nation has and will continue to adapt and evolve both culturally and as a political power in this world.

one big difference. the Japanese were involved in a policy of world wide expansion. how can America and Britain lose in an all out declared war ? we have enough nuke to soften the core of the earth . if we lose the world loses. no two countries in this day and age would dare to declare a war on the Atlantic brothers. America and Britain like it or not are joined at the hip. we would not let them go down and they would not let us go down. people of the world fail to understand that if this country is involved in a declared war especially if we are attacked blatantly by another country, the people of the USA unite like never before. our industrial might is unmatched in the world and our military is the strongest in the world. it has been proved time and time again. word to the wise don't @#$% with America or Britain. unless you want to end up subservient to the worlds mightiest powers.

Why in the world do you think we would lose. Japan lost because they were isolated with few natural resources of their own, and unable to import them.
America does not lack resources. In fact, in the world wars, we were the "arsenal of freedom," supplying weapons and materials to our allies. Well, if Japan is our ally, wouldn't we do the same for them?

Japan is always with the group that is destined to lose in any World War. It is destiny that determines the future of Japan.

I didn't know until just the other day that Japan doesn't have nuclear weapons. That is an invitation for invasion or attack by another nation as they have no deterence.

you have no sense of the history of world war 2,you my friend are ignorant. as far as bush and blair go they are not fascist dictators,so the people that elected them can the vote them out. i dont like them either but everytime someone is evil in government we shouldnt compare them to hitler as that he was a special kind of nutcase.
