1. I don't think thoughts would help much. Only the power of the Spirit. If they increased the torture? Who knows. People will do just about anything under that kind of pressure and usually not willingly.
2. To denounce ones faith is not the end of the world especially when under torture. Look at what Peter did for example. However, I think it would depend greatly on the circumstances. I do believe that if there is sufficient reason one should be willing to die. After all, to die is to be with Christ which is better by far.
2.2. I believe that God's forgiveness is complete since it is based wholly on his son Jesus not on our performance.

Until you are tortured, you do not know what you will or won't do. Study the books that are coming out about Guantanamo and Abu Graib.

Interestingly, the Book of Revelation was written in part to encourage Christians who resisted social pressure to conform to customs, like bowing before the emperor's statue and eating food that had been offered to Roman gods. There was some bad feelings between Christians who stayed faithful and those who faked it to avoid persecution. The hard core ones suffered more, often losing their livelihood and homes.

If you denounce him he will denounce you! Cut my head off! Because the bible says precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints, and all who take the mark will be cast into the fire! And that's worse than any torture!

Nothing is too horrific to bear if you believe in God. God never gives you more than He knows you can bear.
If someone was to torture me in hopes I would denounce my faith, I would let them do it, keeping in mind what my Savior went through because He would not deny me.
God knows my heart and mind (and yours!) therefore, I do not fear.

Study the Inquisitions. The church was trying to get people to confess to it but only a few did, the rest died or were maimed for life. They felt if they confessed they would go to hell because they believed in God and not the church and they would rather die than live another day and go to hell.

The Romans did this also, it has been said that Christian's would sing while being burnt alive.

1-1. I'd do a whole lot of praying.
1-2. I hope and pray that I would not deny my Lord Jesus Christ.
2-1. When the first Christian martyr, Stephen, was being stoned to death, he looked up and saw heaven opened. He asked God to forgive those who were stoning him. I believe that God would make it bearable for me.
2-2. Can't answer that. Hope that never happens. Jesus died for me; I should be willing to die for him.

God never gives us more than we can handle with the help of his Grace. I would pray for his help and not denounce my faith. Thoughts of being with him soon would shield me from most of the pain.

right this is one answer for all your questions: 2 Timothy 2:23 "yet silly and unlearned questions ward off," there is not any might desire to ask "what if" questions. If any difficulty got here up the place a guy's faith exchange into being examined via persecution, God might provide that guy boldness (interior the path of the Holy Spirit of God which indwells believers) to stand for Christ. and whether a guy faltered from concern of persecution, if he/she exchange right into a real believer in Christ, his/her sins are already forgiven. we don't earn eternal life based upon how we do or do no longer stay for Christ. yet individual who does have eternal life will stay his life for God interior the path of the means and help of the Holy Spirit.
