Any history of Asthma past age 12 is a permanent disqualifier, no waivers available. Prior to age 12, there may be a chance of getting a waiver although it must be documented and disclosed at MEPS (your Military Entrance Processing). Do not lie about it. The stress of the military can bring up asthma attacks, and it's not only dangerous to you, but your buddies in the field. If you still have asthma (or had it past 12 years of age) I'm sorry, the military is not an option.

Asthma used to be disqualifying no matter what age, until the Military revised it (source: military standards)

Good luck!

People: do not answer these types of questions if you have no knowledge. It is obvious you do not know anything about this subject. If you still need help (inhaler, meds, etc) past age 12, you CANNOT join any military branch, regardless if your doctor thinks you may. Boot camp is very stressful and can bring up attacks.

Medical incapacity such as asthma is not allowed in the Armed Forces. Thus, a person with asthma is not allowed to join the navy or air force.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

Gixelz is exactly right. If you have a history of asthma past age 12 you are disqualified.
