why are we now starting the same cycle with Mexicans? Does anyone realize that they are human beings just like the rest of us?

Law abiding citizen, just because you obey the law doesn't mean you should be able to get away with being heartless.

Braxton, you're obviously right. How could anyone who isn't a complete idiot disagree with anything you've ever said or ever will say?

THANK YOU! I am glad that someone else picks up on the racist undertones in this anti-immigrant/anti-Mexican stance. I wish people would not jump to this superficial, "Well i am against illegals not immigrants" lie. I mean these people come here because their economies have been ravaged by the United States government over the past century. It's been our interference with their countries that has indirectly led to these people to have to flee through the deserts to find some kind of opportunity to live. I wish their was more empathy for Mexicans, and I wish that Americans would stop scape goating our economic problems on them! Its rediculous, because our economy has always depended on undocumented and/or cheap labor. (ALWAYS) So i wish we could drop the xenophobia and just feel some compassion as human beings.

I've known and worked with some fine Mexican people in the past, some even came to this country illegally.

But our country would be much better off if we could decide how many come in every year. We do not have infinite resources when it comes to providing free medical care and social services to immigrants that don't pay taxes and who we don't even know who they are.

Illegal immigration also has the effect of taking low level entry jobs from teens and people just starting out. It has the effect of depressing wages in this country. Emergency rooms close because they can't stay open and handle providing free treatment for all the illegals they see. Schools educate their young, but do not get the tax revenue from the illegals.

I also believe that when people immigrate to this country, they should come expecting to become Americans and integrate. Historically, the european immigrants did this, and to a lesser extent, the asians. This means learning the language and our laws and customs. Illegals don't really do this. They just come here to work.

When I read stories of featherweight George Dixon 1890 in England, welterweight Joe Walcott 1901 in Canada, lightweight Joe Gans 1902 in Canada, and heavyweight Jack Johnson 1908 in Austrailia gives me a great sense of pride. light heavyweight Battling Siki 1922 ib France and middleweight Tiger Flowers 1926 in the United States, All these champions with the execption of Flowers had won thier championships on foreign soil beceause of racism. bantamweight Panama Al Brown 1929 in the United States became the first latino to become a world champion. racism was defeated by these men in and out of the ring. racism is the reason that great fighters like Peter Jackson, Sam Langford, Sam McVey, Joe Jeanette, Harry Wills, and George Godfrey never received championship opportunities at the heavyweight titlr. These fighters opened the doors for Joe Louis, Henry Armstrong, Archie Moore, SAndy Saddler, Ike Williams, Joe Brown, Sugar Ray Robinson, etc,,,,,,nuff said !!!!!

Yes, we all bleed red.And everyone deserves dignity and respect. Most people try.But it also is a two way street.
When you see millions of illegals marching with the Mexican flag while demanding rights for illegals. When you have illegals coming into another country and refusing to learn its language. While demanding that the host country learn theirs. When you have towns and cities inundated with illegals and the system is stretched to the breaking point. When a small town with a small crime rate, welcomed them.Suddenly sees their crime rate soring.Along with a large amount of drive by shootings.Something that had never happened in the town before. These things scare people. When people become afraid the tend to lash out at those they perceive as the perpetrator's..
What the people see and hear doesn't help the Mexican cause or gain that respect. As many (not all)show no respect for the country they are trying to gain entry to.
In many ways it was much different for in African Americans.

Blacks were not coming here illegally. In the beginning of their immigration, they were forced here. They were also immunized and documented.

Most blacks of today are decendants of blaci immigrants who came after slavery and are also LEGAL immigrants who have been immunized and documented.

Illegal mexicans are not the same so quit comparing them to blacks and also native americans. Illegal mexicans are asking for trouble so should not be surprised to get it.

REAL citizens have to have ID's and documentation, not only immigrants. Illegals may be humans but the key word is ILLEGAL-meaning breaking the law, and knowingly doing so.

Is it racism to want to see others go through legal channels to get the benefits that others had to fight for, die for?
Is it racism to want our government to stop giving aid and help to those who are not even citizens, while there are those who are born into this great country who are refused the same benefits because they are not old enough, or have not put enough money or credits into social security?
It is time to take care of the people who need it, and not the people who want it but are not legal to have it.

You must first stop to analyze the situation with which we are presented. Black Americans are legal citizens who were fighting for an equality due them in that they are citizens of the nation called America. However, if an individual(s) enters this country through illegal means and claims the rights of an actual American citizen they are sorely mistaken. One must enter through legal channels and means just as so many other immigrants do. We must not, cannot show such hospitality as full blown amnesty. Americans have no terrible problem with race as you may believe. We do however desire that foreigners respect our sovereignty as a nation.

When you say "Mexicans", do you mean the citizens of Mexico? There's no problem with citizens of Mexico.

If you mean latinos and hispanics who are American citizens or legal immigrants, there is no problem with that also.

If you mean the illegals who have no respect for my country and my Constitution and who spit on our laws, then yes, I do have a problem with those people. They need to go home, wherever that might be.

Because we have not succeeded in teaching people that racism is wrong. Apparently people have only learned that racism against African-Americans is not tolerated.

Even us minorities are sometimes guilty of speaking out only against racism towards ourselves when we should speak out against racism towards anyone.

Racism is everyone's business because it is a crime against humanity. You don't have to be a member of the group that's being discriminated against to speak up.

The answer to your "question" is plain and simple to anyone with one iota of sense -- ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS ILLEGAL. In words that even retards can understand, "It's against the law!" It doesn't make a shred of difference whether illegal immigrants are Mexican, Puerto Rican or Martian, they're breaking the law. They have no right to stay in this country. They have no right to the billions of dollars in public assistance some states give them. They have no right to send their kids to schools that American tax dollars pay for. They have no right to FREE medical care when millions of Americans can't get a penny in health assistance. They have no right to vote in a society that millions of Americans died to protect and preserve. And did you know that these illegal aliens send some $32-billion dollars home each year instead of putting some of it back into local economies.
