My friend, that I just met last month, would say HI and then he'd give me a looong, warm, comfortable hug. This would happen everytime I would see him. But yet on certain days, he'd pretend that I don't exist. However yesterday, a girl was playing and touching his hair/face, and I walked right passed them (but I didn't see them.) My friend who I was walking with said that he looked sad and that he kept on staring at me.
Is he just a flirt who is playing mind games or what?

This guy is 'copping a feel' from you whenever it is convenient. You're cooperating, for some reason that I don't understand.
He can ask you out, or not. He shouldn't be permitted to treat you like a warm puppy that he runs into now and then, though.

Usually if somebody hugs you , it means they like you, I usually shake hands first, then if and when I feel comfy with somebody as a nice person, I hug them. If or when somebody pretends they don't even know you, maybe what has been built gets cut in half I think, or maybe even less than that. I consider that VERY SERIOUSLY. If somebody does that once, when will they do it again? How would I handle it? Once bitten twice shy. More hesitant to build it or hope if that happens. If you think somebody is playing games, make sure. Don't risk much 'till you know you have honesty. Real honesty. Some people are NOT even capable of it and can't even imagine what that is.

If he's anything like me he might like another girl but he's just a friendly person.the people in my family are big huge-rs to me a huge is just a way of say in "your a good friend and I'm glad your here" it's not that I'm flirting with them it's just i like every one I'm a very friendly person i have a girlfriend and I've been going out with her for about a year at first she thought i was a flirt to but now she know that every ones my friend and i shake hands with guys and give girls hugs it doesn't mean I'm flirting. and he probably thought you where ignoring him so he thought you where mad at him witch with me i cant stand when any-ones mad at me and it makes me sad . but life's life it will all work out in the end just don't try and make a big deal out of little things.

You should just be patient and see how things develop. Sometimes it easy to try and see signals that arent there. at least by waiting you will be sure.
Or you can always give him a little alcohol and see is he fesses up

Yes, he likes you but he's pretending not to like you too much because he's afraid you'll reject him. I say make a move and see what happens.

.......he certainly appear's to be testing the water, though probably a little bit disappointed the water was only warm instead of a little bit hotter......If yuh think yuh might be interested him, try heating the water up a bit, to see if he stick's his toe in again and see if he keep's it in a bit longer.......
