Every divorced sucker in the world thought that the other person was "the one".
Every ex anyone has ever had was at that time "the one".
What are the odds that given the current population of the planet that this one person is "the one" and you have managed to stumble across them?
Six billion people on this earth and in a relatively short period of time each person somehow manages to come to the conclusion that the other person is "the one".
Stop deluding yourself.

If this other person was truly "the one" then no circumstances would ever result in the loss of that person where they would "get away".

If this person was "the one" then surely they would share the same sentiments and no amount of circumstance and no situation would produce a separation. Proof alone that if this person somehow "got away" they were not "the one".

Why even waste your time with this bothersome nonsense anyway?

Well, sort of. We were never more than friends. It just wasn't meant to be. I still love him with all my heart, and I always will, but I doubt we'll ever be together. Difference in age, where we live, his job (musician) all make it difficult. I feel a little guilty even answering this, because my bf of two years is alseep in the other room right now, and he doesn't know about the other guy and how I feel. Strike that - he knows we're friends, but that's all he knows. I would never tell him the truth. He's a sweet sweet man, and he loves me, so it would hurt him too much to know it.

I don't know if there is just one, but yes; yes I did. I was scared. I left after 3 weeks of marriage. I was scared. I went back a year later. I made plans to move back but I just couldn't get there. He, left his state for a while. I don't know where he went. I became clearer on a lot of things and was sure I could return. I couldn't find him. Anywhere! Turns out he had died! I grieved alone. I knew God had put us together. I knew it. I was just too messed up and scared. When we said our vows I could feel them being etched into my heart. He knew all along, I just needed a little more growing up. I would have crawled back to him, so sure was I when I finally understood what I needed to understand in order to not be afraid. But, he had died. I grieved for a long time. I haven't thought about it for a while. It was 19 years ago. And just remembering it tonight brought tears to my eyes. I still have the last letter he wrote me. "Damn," he said, "I miss you sometimes more than others." I miss him too!

I did. I was married to him for 10 years and then I walked away. That was 22 years ago.

If someone is the one, it will work out, you won't have to worry about them getting away. These things don't happen by accident!
