sometimes at night if im not using computer/ipod ext. i will go deep into thought. i somehow start thinking about scary things. i worry about death of myself and my family. sometimes i even get scared about ghosts and my house is a little bit scary. its big and has lots of antiques and old paintings and makes noises and chandleers and religious paintings. not often but sometimes, pretty rare considering i usualy have a dream but sometimes, i have nightmirors about dead people. like once i dreamed about a fieldtrip on flying pic-nic tables to a graveyard and a bunch of dead people on the ground and in open coffins were laying around, like that. i feel like god gets mad at me for tinny, little things. im too old for this, im 15. it makes me not able to sleep. i stay awake with my eyes wide open staring into the dark. im too embarased to tell anybody. i once mentioned "if im up at night i think abou scary stuff" and the person i was speaking to said "me to." so, is this normal?

Hi, you're not too old for it. I'm 26 and I still have nights where I get freaked out, I think it's an overactive imagination.....
Don't tell anyone (hehe) but sometimes I get so scared there's somthing under my bed, i will actually stand on the bed and jump to the doorway to flip the light on, cos after all Monsters cant come out from under the bed if light is on, YES ITS STUPID YES IT"S NEUROTIC but I cannot help it. My sister told me that witches wait under the bed to chew your toes off in the dark. Sometimes stupid things just stick with you, You're normal, but if its causing you insomnia, maybe you should see someone about it to help you rationalize through your fears. Good luck.

The grudge can't harm you, ghosts are transparent. How do you think they can walk through walls? her hands would probably go through you when she tries to strangle you. If she gives you the scary look with her eyes, the first thing you should do is to poke it. Make her blind. You can also try pulling her hair, most girls are scared of that, it hurts. Or you can cut it. Then, bring her down to the well and throw her in. Cover it up. Catholic images protect you from the grudge or any other ghosts. so don't worry. just close your eyes and let god help you. now, to the real deal. It's always good to make fun of the scary thoughts, like what i did to the grudge. If you really want to stop these thoughts, maybe you should watch less horror/slasher movies.

I remember when I was younger I used to get freaked out being home alone. Creaks and groans of the house used to make me think there was someone under my bed. I would lie there frozen, afraid to move, afraid to put my foot on the ground and get up.
Not only was I afraid at night, but also during the day, I was afraid of people, of social situations. My son has had fears for years. He had the hardest time being alone in his room. And even now it is difficult for him not to be at his computer, to be alone.

I used to have nightmares about huge waves. Today they are called rogue waves, but in those days I didn't know about rogue waves. I would wake up panicked because I felt like a giant wave was coming at me to swallow me up. Over the months the waves got smaller and smaller till one day the water in the dream was just a puddle in a parking lot which I could definitely cross over without harm.

When I first learned to swim well enough to do laps, I remember one night I was swimming and all of a sudden it hit me that I was absolutely alone--the sensation of having all that water around my face and being totally isolated from any other human was really frightening.

So yes, I think we all have fears. It's normal. And part of our life's journey is facing the fears, breathing in spite of them, and overcoming them over time.

I think it's pretty normal ("ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties, and things that go bump in the night"--James Whitcomb Riley, I believe). I remember believing in spirits of the dark; I don't remember a time when I was afraid of them, but I think there was a time when I was afraid of them. At some point, I noticed they went away when I put my glasses on. :")

In 1992-93, I lost 3 people out of my life (respectively, to suicide, heart attack and drive-by shooting). After the drive-by shooting, I was still trying to make sense of the suicide; by mistake, I picked up a sociological work on the subject which started with a graphic description of police discovery of a suicide. This triggered about six months of nightmares (once nightmares start, they tend to continue). After a particularly disturbing dream, I started reading books about dreams and how to influence them. A couple of these were by Gayle Delaney (she now seems to be online at gdelaney.com). One technique is called "mantra": you go to sleep mumbling something over and over, and your dream may or may not be influenced by what you went to sleep mumbling. This can backfire: I once went off to sleep mumbling "Only in God is my soul at rest" (from Psalms). I dreamed I woke up dead, and I wasn't in heaven either. I had the day off, and by maybe 10 a.m. I had it thrashed out:

Only in God is my soul at rest (Psalm phrase)

If I am in God, then my soul is at rest. (Syllogism ["if-then" statement]) If A, then B.

If my soul is at rest, then I am in God. (Converse: If B, then A.)

If my soul is not at rest, then I am not in God. (Contrapositive: if not-B, then not-A.)

So, the actual process produced a nightmare, but when I took it apart I was able to laugh it off.

It could be stress related. relatoinship problems or something? or it could be for some reason your thoughts just wonder off and for someone reason it trails to scary stuff. it is normal to think about death sometimes but to much of it can lead to problems. just remember the nightmares are just random thoughts the brain thinks up. i get scared too, but i just try to change my thoughts with music or something.

Sweetheart, I am so sorry you feel this way. Is there no one you can talk to? Perhaps your mother or older sister? I used to have weird dreams like this, but you have to wish them away, pray about it. God isn't mad at you, He loves you. All you have to do is say God make them go away and believe that He can change it. I will pray for you. Keep your head up. It's always good to talk about it :)

Have you tried talking to a counselor? Is something going on in your life that is causing you stress? A counselor might be able to help you with this. Good luck!

its pretty normal to have thoughts like this. as you get a couple years older this will never be a problem again, all teens do is experience different kinds of fears but you will grow out of it soon
