There's a guy I always knew since we were kids, and it seems we rarely had a chance to talk and yet, we've always been friends or rather, have always wanted to be friends.
Anyway, I've gone away to college, and he stayed close to home---and I rarely go back home for the holidays.
Recently my mother called me and told me how he openly cried in the devastating loss of one of his best friends and instinctively I just wanted sooo badly to call him and tell him how much I cared... But I couldnt, because I dont even have his number.
I've always wanted to reach out to him but never had the chance.
I dont know why I care for him deeply far beyond the means of infatuation.

I always say go with your gutt feelings, You only live once, and if you dont call him to say you care...then you will never know. What do you have to loose???? Who knows...maybe he has had this feelilng as well, and if he doesnt, oh well... move on. You now know, where you stand.
I dont think I could go on not knowing...go for it.

You know what I'm in the same situation. I asked this girl in my senior year (2005) if she wanted to date me, But she told me i was having an infatuation. Which I was not. I think about her almost every night. And shes off to college and so am i and i'm sad, because i have no way of contacting her. I get emotional about this sometimes. But to answer your question, the feelings don't want to go away.

I would ask your mother to get the number for you since she may know how to get in touch with him since he stayed close to home. Then i would get the nerve and pick up the phone and call him. Let him know at first you heard about his friend and were concerned with how he was doing and take it from there. You'll see that once you get the conversation going things will be easier to talk about.. It's all about taking that first leap and picking up the phone.

Ask your mother to find his number for you. Give him a call. Make plans to get together the next time you go home and check out the situation.

It looks to me like you need to find a way to get close to him and take things from there. It is a hard call to make , given your situation though. Sometimes the simpliest answers with the hardest calls are the only answers to give. good luck

Because part of you really cares for that person and you chose to continue to either hold onto those feelings of love and joy, or something else.

If you really feel that way. Call him!!! Ask him how he is tell him he has been on your mind. Having him be apart of your life may just be important to you. there isn't anything wrong with that!!!
